A while back I reviewed the new Maybelline Color Sensational lipstick--and hated it. I actually had to throw mine away because it had such a noxious smell. But several of you have written since then to say that I must have gotten a bad batch, because you loooooove them and they actually smell of the vanilla-scented breath of unicorn foals in a field of glittery buttercups. So I hit the ol' CVS to try again and...and...I couldn't do it. I surreptitiously sniffed a few, and they certainly didn't smell as bad as the one I'd bought a few months back. But they didn't smell that good to me either. Also I was standing there like Dennis Hopper in Blue Velvet huffing lipsticks and probably freaking people out. Anyway it really pissed me off to throw a brand new lipstick away, so I just couldn't make myself spring for another one. So to compromise, I bought two of the brand's new Color Sensational lipglosses. I was pleasantly surprised. They pack a nice amount of pigment, and are nicely moisturizing, and--most importantly--they don't smell like something died in the tube. They even miiiiight convince me to try the lipstick again. But probably not. I'd rather just buy another gloss.Coincidentally, right now Drugstore.com has all their Maybelline junk buy-one-get-one-free--EXCEPT they don't have these glosses. They have the Color Sensational Lipsticks, but not the glosses. So I am not linking to those assholes, out of spite.

Most drugstores (and Target) have a really good return policy for make-up since it's understood that you can't try it on in-store. So save your receipt and save your pennies, but no more tossing.
LOVE the Dennis Hooper analogy. I can just picture you in aisle 3 huffing and the cashiers calling security. Bwaaaaaahahahahha!
I have the lipstick and I love it but I will admit...the smell isn't my favorite. Not sure if this makes sense but it smells very--lipsticky. Ha! Kind of chemically but once its on I don't smell it anymore and I found a perfect pink so I can deal :)
