Nordstrom's big summer sale started yesterday! I used to love to go to that thing, and there are some great bargains, but the catalog didn't inspire me this year. In case you go, though, I wanted to warn you off this super $50 MAC brush deal.That price would be very good for MAC brushes if they were the standard wonderful-quality MAC brushes. But they are aren't--they're special cheapies put together just for this sale every year (MAC and Nordstrom do this at Christmas, too). They will shed and fall apart and you'll be sorry you spent your money. But you do need good brushes! I highly recommend the MAC brushes that are sold year-round. I have had some for more than ten years, and they are still in beautiful shape. But if you can't drop that kind of cash, check out the brand Eco-Tools.
It's stocked at Ulta and drugstore.com and lots of other places. Their are brushes very soft and very cheap and cruelty-free (YAY!), but not cheaply made. You can get the set above for about ten bucks. Now that's a bargain.

I bought that same Eco-Tools set about six months ago and it is AWESOME! I really just needed brushes in a pinch (I was on my way to a dinner and needed to do my makeup in the car...ugh), but they have completely replaced the frankly very expensive brushes I'd been using previously. Eco-friendliness is only a benefit if the product works, and these sure do!
Foolish purchase: AVERTED.
